SEND Tutors Required (Alternative Provision – Wokingham Area)

We are recruiting qualified teachers and experienced tutors to support pupils across Wokingham through one-to-one and small group tuition.

This work is focused on young people who are currently out of mainstream education or require additional support due to SEND and/or SEMH needs. Delivery may take place in person, online, or through a hybrid model, depending on each individual placement.

There is a consistent flow of referrals from local authorities and schools, offering regular opportunities for tutors seeking flexible work.

⚠️ You must have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available.

About the Role

You will work directly with pupils on a personalised basis, delivering targeted support across core subjects (English, Maths, Science). Students range from KS1 through to KS5, depending on your experience.

Sessions may be delivered in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, community locations, or online. Many placements provide regular weekly work, with some offering up to 5 days per week (approximately 3 hours per day), often continuing through to the end of the academic year.

Who You’ll Be Supporting

The pupils you work with may have a range of needs, including:

  • SEMH, anxiety, or school disengagement
  • Autism (ASC), ADHD
  • MLD, SLD, or PMLD

Success in this role requires a patient, adaptable and relationship-focused approach, with an understanding of how to engage learners who may have had disrupted education.

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS / QTLS or strong relevant tutoring experience
  • Experience working with SEND or alternative provision learners
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two professional references
  • Strong safeguarding awareness
  • Ability to travel locally within Wokingham

What You Can Expect

This role offers a flexible alternative to classroom teaching, with the opportunity to:

  • Work around your own schedule
  • Deliver more individualised, impactful support
  • Access ongoing support
  • Earn competitive rates, dependent on experience
