Are you currently working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND Support Worker and considering a move away from a traditional classroom-based role at the end of this academic year?

Quantum Scholars is expanding its team of SEND Tutors and Learning Mentors ahead of September 2026 and is seeking experienced SEND professionals to deliver personalised one-to-one tuition and support for children and young people across Wokingham and the surrounding areas.

With a significant increase in contracted SEND tuition expected from September 2026, we are looking to build a team of dedicated practitioners who are passionate about supporting students with additional needs through highly personalised learning programmes.

A Different Way to Use Your SEND Experience

This role offers the opportunity to move beyond whole-class support and work directly with individual students, helping them build confidence, engage with learning and make meaningful progress.

Many of the students we support are unable to access mainstream education and receive Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) provision. Sessions are typically delivered on a one-to-one basis within the student’s home, with parents or carers present throughout.

Students may present with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance
  • Trauma-related difficulties
  • Medical needs
  • Additional learning needs

The Role

  • Delivering personalised 1:1 SEND tuition and support
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting engagement, confidence and emotional wellbeing
  • Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Providing feedback on student progress and engagement

Who This Role Would Suit

  • Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
  • Teaching Assistants (TAs)
  • SEND Support Workers
  • Learning Mentors
  • Behaviour Mentors
  • Youth Workers
  • Tutors with SEND experience

Why Join Quantum Scholars?

  • £25-£35 per hour depending on experience
  • Significant volume of contracted SEND tuition available from September 2026
  • Flexible opportunities ranging from part-time sessions to full-time timetables
  • Meaningful one-to-one work with students who benefit from personalised support
  • A chance to develop specialist SEND and alternative provision experience
  • Ongoing support from an experienced education team

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, adaptable and nurturing approach
  • Confidence working independently on a one-to-one basis
  • Commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes for young people
