SEND Learning Mentor – Wokingham (11 Hours per Week)

Quantum Scholars are currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate SEND Learning Mentor to provide 1:1 support for three young boys in Wokingham who are accessing Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS) from September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with additional needs who require personalised support outside of a mainstream educational setting. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and essential life skills, enabling them to achieve positive outcomes both now and in the future.
As a SEND Learning Mentor, you will deliver engaging and meaningful sessions tailored to each pupil’s individual needs. Your focus will be on supporting their social, emotional and personal development, encouraging independence, and helping them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive both in education and everyday life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 support tailored to each pupil’s individual needs and abilities.
- Supporting pupils with confidence building and developing self-esteem.
- Helping young people develop essential life skills and promote independence.
- Supporting pupils with their social and emotional development through a nurturing and personalised approach.
- Delivering engaging and meaningful mentoring sessions that are adapted to different learning styles.
- Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with each young person.
- Encouraging and celebrating progress and achievements, no matter how small.
- Working collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals involved in the pupils’ support where required.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience working as a SEND Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Tutor or in a similar role supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- Have experience supporting pupils with SEND, including social, emotional and behavioural needs (desirable).
- Be passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and personal development.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be patient, empathetic and adaptable in their approach.
- Be confident building positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and professionals alike.
- Have a genuine commitment to supporting young people to reach their full potential.
This is a part-time position offering 11 hours of support per week. The provision is expected to run throughout the full academic year, with the potential to continue beyond this period.
