Science Tutor – Wokingham & Berkshire
Quantum Scholars are working in partnership with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wokingham to recruit a dedicated Science Tutor to deliver 1:1, in-person tuition for secondary-aged pupils receiving alternative provision or Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS).
This role involves supporting students who are currently outside of mainstream education, often due to additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, behavioural challenges, or medical needs.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact, helping pupils rebuild confidence, develop their understanding of key scientific concepts, and re-engage with education. Tuition sessions typically take place in the pupil’s home or a suitable community setting, and tutors are responsible for planning and delivering tailored lessons to meet individual learning needs.
Role Responsibilities:
* Deliver 1:1 Science tuition to secondary-aged pupils
* Plan and prepare engaging, personalised lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
* Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning needs
* Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils
* Support pupils in developing confidence and core Science knowledge
Role Details:
* Flexible, part-time hours
* Sessions delivered during school hours
* Opportunities available across Wokingham and surrounding areas in Berkshire
* In-person tuition only
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred but not essential
* Experience working with pupils with additional needs (e.g. Autism, ADHD, SEMH)
* Strong behaviour management skills
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
* Right to work in the UK
* Ability to travel within Wokingham and surrounding areas
