Job Type: Flexible, part-time opportunities

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced Science Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition for young people across Somerset, specifically Taunton and the surrounding areas.

Quantum Scholars has been approved onto Somerset Council’s Alternative Provision Framework, and we are now looking to expand our network of tutors to support young people who are currently accessing Alternative Provision.

The role will involve providing 1:1 Science tuition tailored to the individual needs, abilities and circumstances of each young person. Students may have a range of SEND and/or SEMH needs and may be unable to access a mainstream school setting at present.

We are looking for tutors who can build positive relationships with young people, provide consistent support and adapt their approach to help students re-engage with education and make progress.

The role may involve:

  • Delivering personalised Science tuition on a 1:1 basis
  • Supporting young people accessing Alternative Provision
  • Adapting lessons to suit individual learning needs and abilities
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting engagement, confidence and progress in education
  • Working collaboratively with Quantum Scholars and relevant professionals

We are looking for tutors who:

  • Have experience teaching or tutoring Science
  • Have experience working with young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
  • Are patient, reliable and approachable
  • Can adapt their teaching style to meet individual needs
  • Are confident working on a 1:1 basis
  • Have a genuine interest in supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream education

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to young people across Taunton and Somerset, providing consistent educational support in a more personalised setting.

If you are an experienced Science Teacher, Tutor, SEND specialist or Alternative Provision practitioner and are interested in supporting young people through 1:1 tuition, we would love to hear from you.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client’s pay policy.
