Quantum Scholars are delighted to be working with a Pupil Referral Unit in Berkshire, who are seeking a passionate and dedicated qualified teacher to join their team as soon as possible for an initial one-term placement.

This rewarding position offers flexibility, with full-time or part-time (3 days per week) options available. The successful candidate will feel confident delivering engaging lessons and providing highly personalised support to a very small group of learners (just 1-2 students per group).

You will play a vital role in supporting pupils within a focused, nurturing environment, helping them re-engage with learning and make meaningful progress.

Requirements

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Strong teaching experience, ideally within mainstream, SEN, or alternative provision settings

  • Ability to confidently plan and deliver high-quality lessons for small groups

  • Secure understanding of the national curriculum and effective differentiation strategies

  • Experience working with students with behavioural, SEMH, or additional needs (highly desirable for PRU settings)

  • Excellent behaviour-management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships

  • Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills

  • A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons for groups of 1-2 students

  • Provide targeted academic and pastoral support to learners with SEMH or additional needs

  • Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment

  • Support pupils in building confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours

  • Track student progress and provide regular feedback to the wider teaching team

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, support staff, and external professionals

  • Prepare learning resources and contribute to a well-organised classroom environment

  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare of all pupils
