Quantum Scholars are delighted to be supporting a Pupil Referral Unit in Berkshire, who are seeking a passionate and dedicated qualified Primary teacher/tutor to join their team as soon as possible for an initial one-term placement.

This meaningful role offers excellent flexibility, with both full-time and part-time (3 days per week) options available. The ideal candidate will feel confident delivering engaging lessons and offering highly personalised support to a very small group of learners (just 1-2 students per group).

You will play an essential part in supporting pupils within a focused, nurturing environment-helping them re-engage with education and achieve genuine progress.

Requirements

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Strong teaching experience, ideally within mainstream, SEN, or alternative provision

  • Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons for small groups

  • Secure understanding of the national curriculum and effective differentiation

  • Experience working with students with behavioural, SEMH, or additional needs (highly desirable for PRUs)

  • Excellent behaviour-management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships

  • Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills

  • A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons for groups of 1-2 students

  • Provide focused academic and pastoral support to learners with SEMH or additional needs

  • Foster a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment

  • Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and positive behaviour

  • Monitor student progress and share feedback with the wider teaching team

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and external professionals

  • Prepare learning resources and maintain an organised classroom environment

  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare of all pupils
