1:1 SEND Tutor – Bath & Surrounding Areas, Somerset

Alternative Provision | EOTAS | Flexible Working | September 2026

Quantum Scholars is expanding its Alternative Provision services across Somerset and is looking to recruit dedicated 1:1 SEND Tutors to support learners across Bath and the surrounding areas.

With a significant increase in Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS) and Alternative Provision referrals expected from September 2026, we are seeking experienced, compassionate tutors who are passionate about helping children and young people with additional needs re-engage with education through personalised learning.

This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver tailored 1:1 tuition, helping learners build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, and make meaningful academic progress.

About the Role

As a 1:1 SEND Tutor, you will work with primary and secondary-aged pupils (5-16 years) who are currently unable to access mainstream education.

You will plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons that are tailored to each learner’s individual needs, abilities, and learning style. In addition to academic support, you’ll help build confidence, develop positive learning habits, and create a safe, supportive environment where every learner can succeed.

Many of the young people we support have a range of additional needs, including:

  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
  • Trauma or adverse childhood experiences
  • Medical needs
  • Behavioural challenges

Tuition is delivered on a 1:1 basis, typically in the learner’s home or within a suitable community setting.

We carefully match tutors with learners based on your subject expertise, experience, availability, and preferred age groups.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from experienced education professionals, including:

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experienced SEND Tutors
  • Primary Teachers
  • Secondary Teachers
  • SEN Teachers
  • Alternative Provision Tutors
  • Outreach Tutors
  • Tutors with experience supporting learners with additional needs

To be successful, you should have:

  • Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or teaching children and young people, particularly those with SEND or additional needs.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK curriculum within your specialist subject or key stage.
  • The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, flexible, and empathetic approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • The ability to travel across Bath and the surrounding areas. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are highly desirable.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working that fits around your availability.
  • Ongoing tuition referrals throughout the academic year.
  • Competitive hourly rates, dependent on experience.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference through personalised 1:1 education.
  • Dedicated support from an experienced consultant throughout your placements.

Please note that applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for these opportunities.

If you’re passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to education and believe every learner deserves the opportunity to succeed, we’d love to hear from you.
