SEND/SEMH Tutor – Somerset
Quantum Scholars are seeking dedicated and experienced SEND/SEMH Tutors to provide 1:1 tuition to young people accessing Alternative and EOTAS provision across Somerset.
We are particularly keen to hear from tutors who are confident and passionate about delivering English, Maths and/or Science and who have experience supporting young people with additional needs.
As an approved provider on Somerset Council’s Alternative Provision Framework, Quantum Scholars receive consistent referrals for tuition across the county. This means we are regularly looking for experienced tutors to support young people who may be unable to access mainstream education.
The Role
You will provide 1:1, tailored tuition designed around the individual needs, abilities and circumstances of each young person.
Learners may have a range of needs, including:
- SEND and additional learning needs
- SEMH needs
- Autism/ASC and ADHD
- EBSA, anxiety or school refusal
- Behavioural or emotional challenges
- Gaps in learning due to disrupted education
The focus is not simply on delivering the curriculum, but on building trust, confidence and positive relationships with learners, helping them re-engage with education and make progress.
We Are Looking For
We would love to hear from tutors who have:
- Experience working with young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
- Confidence delivering English, Maths and/or Science
- Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or intervention
- A patient, understanding and nurturing approach
- The ability to adapt sessions to suit individual learners
- A genuine passion for supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream education
- QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching/tutoring experience (desirable, but not always essential)
