International Teacher Recruitment for Schools Across England
Quantum Scholars supports schools across England with international teacher recruitment, connecting schools with qualified teaching professionals across a range of subject areas and key stages. We help schools address recruitment challenges by providing access to high-quality international candidates while supporting the recruitment, compliance and relocation process.
Sponsoring international teachers
Quantum Scholars supports schools across England with the recruitment of qualified international teachers across a range of secondary subject areas, including Maths, Science, English, Humanities, Geography, Design Technology, Computer Science, Business Studies and Modern Foreign Languages (MFL).
We work with teaching professionals from a range of countries, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland and the USA, helping schools access high-quality candidates for long-term teaching opportunities.
Some international teachers may require Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship depending on their qualifications, eligibility and right to work status.
A teacher will need sponsorship if they meet the following criteria:
- All citizens from the USA, Jamaica and South Africa
- All citizens aged 35 and over from Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- All citizens aged under 35 from Canada, Australia and New Zealand who have previously used a Youth Mobility Scheme Visa
Quantum Scholars works in partnership with a UK immigration consultancy to help support schools and international teachers throughout the Skilled Worker Visa process.
As part of our international recruitment support, schools receive an initial visa consultation at no additional cost.
We also provide easy-to-follow guidance for both schools and international candidates to help support the recruitment, sponsorship and relocation process.

Understanding different visas
There are several visa routes available for international teachers entering the UK. Some of these options do not require sponsorship or direct involvement from the school.
- Youth Mobility Scheme visa (YMS) – valid for 2 years to 18-35 year olds and available from Canada, NZ, Australia and Hong Kong
- Ancestry Visa – This (up to) 5 year visa is eligible to teachers with immediate UK family ties such as a parent or grandparent who was born in the UK.
- British or Irish passport holder
Teachers entering the UK through these visa routes may have the opportunity to work in schools through contractual employment with Quantum Scholars, offering greater flexibility and shorter notice periods for those looking to teach in England.
European Union (EU Passport)
Candidates from European Union countries (excluding Ireland) will usually require a Skilled Worker Visa to work in the UK unless they already hold Settled or Pre-Settled Status.
Sponsoring an International Teacher
Quantum Scholars also recruits teachers who may require Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship to work in the UK. This includes:
- All citizens from the USA, Jamaica, and South Africa
- All citizens aged 35 and over from Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- All citizens aged under 35 from Canada, Australia and New Zealand who have previously used a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme Visa
Current Visa Sponsorship Guidance for Schools
International teacher recruitment and visa sponsorship processes have become more accessible for schools in recent years, making it easier to recruit qualified teaching professionals across a wider range of subject areas.
Schools should also be aware that most European Union citizens without Settled or Pre-Settled Status will require Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship to work in the UK. As a result, many schools and local authorities now either hold sponsorship licences directly or access sponsorship support through their local authority or trust.

See what our clients say about their experiences with Quantum Scholars. Trust the experts in teacher recruitment.
My Journey in attaining an overseas teaching job in the United Kingdom was made easy with Quantum Scholars. They had a wonderful team which maintained excellent communication and guidance throughout the process, they were patient and cooperative. They ensured that everything was completed accurately. I recommend any teacher that seeking employment in the united Kingdom to make Quantum Scholar their organization of choice.
Quantum Scholars has been fantastic in assisting me in securing a teaching position in the UK in the shortest time possible. In the last two (2) years I have tried other agencies, however, Quantum was the only one that came through for me. I would like to personally thank Amy, Robin and Steve for always being there whenever I have questions, they are literally just a email away.
My experience with Quantum Scholars was nothing but a positive one. From the moment I expressed interest through getting my job and moving to the UK I felt extremely supported. Quantum helped me not only find a school to interview with and helped me through that process but helped support me through the visa experience, moving forward with my new school and making sure that all my questions were answered. I would absolutely recommend using Quantum Scholars to anyone oversees seeking a UK teaching job!
I can’t thank Quantum Scholars enough for helping to make my dream a reality. I signed up with Quantum Scholars in February of this year, and Robin Sutcliffe was my agent. After an initial online discussion there was a lot of paperwork to send through but throughout this, Robin was a star! He guided me and kept me up to date with all relevant information…After getting the job, Amy Lloyd liaised with me to ensure I had all the correct paperwork. She also arranged a free consultation with an immigration expert, who discussed the visa application process with me. This information was invaluable and gave me the confidence to apply for my visa by myself, saving me a lot of money.
