Make a Difference Through Personalised Education

Quantum Scholars is working in partnership with Hillingdon Council to recruit experienced and compassionate SEND/SEN Tutors to support children and young people accessing Alternative Provision across Uxbridge and the wider Hillingdon borough.

This rewarding opportunity involves delivering personalised 1:1 tuition to pupils who are unable to attend mainstream education due to a range of additional needs. Sessions are typically delivered in the learner’s home during school hours, helping pupils rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and reach their full potential.

About the Role

As a SEND/SEN Tutor, you will provide tailored one-to-one tuition to primary and secondary-aged pupils, adapting your teaching to suit each learner’s individual needs, abilities, and educational goals.

Tuition may involve:

  • Delivering engaging 1:1 lessons in pupils’ homes
  • Supporting core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science
  • Planning and adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and their families
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers to education and successfully re-engage with learning
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback where required

Who You Will Be Supporting

You will work with pupils presenting with a variety of additional needs, including:

  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
  • Anxiety and other mental health needs
  • Medical needs
  • Communication and interaction difficulties
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Other additional or complex learning needs

Many of the pupils have experienced challenges within mainstream education and benefit from a flexible, patient, and relationship-based approach to learning.

About You

We are looking for tutors who have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
  • Previous experience as a Tutor, Teacher, Teaching Assistant (TA), Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or in a similar role
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learners
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to succeed
  • Full Right to Work in the UK
