SEND Tutor – Alternative Provision (Hillingdon Borough)

Quantum Scholars is working in partnership with Hillingdon Council to recruit experienced and compassionate tutors to support young people accessing Alternative Provision.

This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 tuition to pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education and require personalised academic and pastoral support. Tuition is delivered in the learner’s home during school hours, helping students to build confidence, re-engage with education, and achieve positive outcomes.

About the Pupils

You will be supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety and mental health needs
  • Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
  • Medical needs
  • Social, emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Other additional learning needs

We are looking for tutors who are patient, empathetic, and experienced in adapting their teaching approach to meet individual learner needs.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions in pupils’ homes
  • Support learning in subjects such as English, Maths and Science
  • Help students re-engage with education and develop confidence in learning
  • Create a positive, supportive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Work flexibly during school hours, Monday to Friday

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential
  • Previous experience as a Tutor, Teaching Assistant (TA), Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Support Worker, Mentor, Youth Worker, or similar role is highly desirable
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to adapt lessons and teaching strategies to meet individual needs
  • A caring, patient, and understanding approach
  • Full Right to Work in the UK
