Hours: Part-Time, Flexible

Are you passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education?

We are working with Hillingdon Council and are looking for compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Outreach Tutors to join our growing team. Due to an increasing number of referrals, we have exciting opportunities available for individuals who are committed to helping vulnerable young people re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

Why Join Us?

As an Outreach Tutor, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the lives of young people who may be struggling to access mainstream education. Through tailored support and relationship-building, you will help pupils develop confidence, overcome barriers to learning, and work towards achieving their individual goals.

With regular referrals being received from Hillingdon Council, we are actively expanding our team and have learners ready to start immediately.

About the Role

You will provide personalised support and educational intervention to primary and secondary-aged pupils who require alternative provision.

Many of the young people you support may be out of education, awaiting specialist placements, experiencing school avoidance, or facing challenges that prevent them from accessing learning within a traditional classroom environment.

Sessions will take place either:

  • In the pupil’s home
  • Within a community setting such as a library or learning hub

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering tailored educational support and intervention
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
  • Encouraging engagement with learning and personal development
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Identifying and adapting to individual learning and emotional needs
  • Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements
  • Working towards re-engagement with education where appropriate

Who You’ll Be Supporting

You will work with young people presenting with a range of needs, including:

  • SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
  • Anxiety and Mental Health needs
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Other complex learning and social needs

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from individuals who are:

  • Experienced in working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient
  • Confident in managing challenging situations and behaviours
  • Skilled at building rapport and positive relationships
  • Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education
  • Able to deliver engaging and personalised support sessions

Experience within education, youth work, mentoring, social care, alternative provision, or tutoring would be highly beneficial.

Availability to deliver sessions across five days per week would be advantageous due to the volume of referrals we receive.

What’s on Offer?

  • Flexible part-time hours to suit your availability
  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Consistent referrals and ongoing opportunities
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people’s lives
  • Immediate starts available
  • Opportunities extending into the next academic year

Whether you’re an experienced Outreach Tutor, Teacher, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or Education Professional, we’d love to hear from you.
