SEND Mentors & Tutors – Hereford Area

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for these opportunities.

Quantum Scholars are looking to engage caring and adaptable individuals to provide 1:1 SEND tuition and mentoring support to pupils across Hereford and the surrounding area.

We are particularly excited to be expanding our presence across the county following our recent approval as an Alternative Provision provider with Herefordshire Council. As a result, we are expecting increased demand for tutors to support young people who require personalised educational provision outside of mainstream settings.

Many of the pupils we support may experience challenges linked to SEND, SEMH, autism, anxiety, trauma, behavioural needs, medical conditions, or school avoidance. For the right person, this can be incredibly rewarding work. The support you provide can help a young person rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve outcomes they may never have thought possible.

We welcome applications from individuals with experience in teaching, teaching assistance, SEND support, youth work, behaviour mentoring, alternative provision, coaching, pastoral care, or similar roles. Above all, we are looking for people who can build positive relationships and provide consistent support.

The role involves delivering 1:1 tuition and mentoring to primary and secondary-aged pupils. Sessions may take place in homes, schools, community settings, or online, depending on the needs of each student. There is immediate and ongoing demand for tutors, with referrals continuing throughout the academic year.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel locally within Hereford and the surrounding area
  • Driving and access to a vehicle would be highly advantageous

What We Offer

  • Flexible opportunities to fit around your availability
  • Ongoing referrals and long-term opportunities
  • Opportunities for both face-to-face and online tuition
  • Meaningful work with genuine impact
  • Competitive rates, dependent on experience
